Made for homes without solar panels

No Solar Panels Required

This hybrid system stores grid electricity. You do not need a PV array or plans to install one. The hybrid inverter also has two MPPT inputs for future solar panels, which are not included.

16.07kWh Dyness Battery

A low-voltage LFP battery with 15.27kWh usable battery energy, IP65 protection and WiFi/app monitoring.

5kW Solis Charger/Inverter

Charges the battery from the grid and converts stored battery energy into electricity for your home.

Automated Time-of-Use Charging

Your REC configures charging around your cheap tariff window. 2AM–6AM is an example, not a requirement.

Automatic Daytime Supply

The battery supplies household demand within the inverter's output limit. Any extra demand is supplied by the grid.

Standard NC6 Admin Included

SolarBoss prepares and handles the standard NC6 paperwork for this package. Electrical installation remains separate.

An illustrative example, built around your usage

What Could NightSaver 16 Save You?

Example tariffs of 8.5c/kWh at night and 35c/kWh during the day. Approximately one full useful battery cycle every day, with conversion losses and battery degradation included.

Illustrative equipment paybackApprox. 2.9 years

A household able to use approximately one full useful cycle each day could recover the €3,749 equipment cost in approximately 2.9 years under these example tariffs.

~€1,316estimated saving in year 1
~€8,60010-year estimated net benefit
~€14,10015-year estimated net benefit

Installation excluded. Net benefits are after recovering the €3,749 equipment price and before delivery, installation, additional site work, maintenance, future replacement or finance costs. Savings are illustrative, not guaranteed; they depend on tariffs, usage, settings and real system performance.

Estimated Annual Electricity Saving as the Battery Ages

The model allows for gradually declining battery capacity.

Year 1: ~€1,316 → Year 15: ~€1,062

When Does It Pay for Itself?

Estimated cumulative electricity savings against the €3,749 equipment cost.

Payback: ~2.9 years. Year 15 total saving: ~€17,838.

Usable battery energy when new: 15.27kWh. The model assumes 93.9% AC-to-battery charging efficiency and 93.8% battery discharge efficiency, using the Solis published maximum figures as illustrative assumptions, not guaranteed operating efficiencies. A full useful cycle delivers approximately 14.32kWh to the home and requires approximately 16.26kWh from the grid. Charging costs approximately €1.38 and avoids approximately €5.01 of daytime electricity when new, before modelled degradation.

Annual savings = usable battery energy × (day rate × discharge efficiency − night rate ÷ charge efficiency) × 365 × average modelled capacity. The model uses the manufacturer's ≥8,000-cycle specification with 70% end-of-life capacity under test conditions (0.2C charging/discharging, 25°C, 95% depth of discharge). It models degradation linearly for illustration; actual degradation may differ. At one equivalent full cycle per day, 15 years is approximately 5,475 cycles, with about 79.5% capacity at the end of year 15 and about 80.2% average during that year.

Tariffs stay fixed in this illustration; there is no export payment, standing-charge saving, inflation, battery replacement, delivery, installation or financing allowance. Not every home can charge or use a full useful cycle each day. Consider your daytime consumption, cheap-rate window, household demand and charging limits.

Paperwork taken care of

SolarBoss handles the NC6 administration

Standard NC6 paperwork/admin is included in the advertised package price. SolarBoss prepares and handles the standard notification using the accurate information and technical documents you and your REC provide.

  • Supply your correct MPRN, installation address, Eircode and required account information.
  • Your REC must confirm site suitability, compatibility, installation design and required type-test/grid compliance documents.
  • Any technical confirmation, declaration or signature required from the customer or REC must come from that party. SolarBoss does not sign an electrician's declaration on their behalf.
  • The ESB Networks process must be completed before connection. The standard process requires that ESB Networks receives the NC6 and does not object within 20 business days.

Existing generation or site circumstances can affect eligibility for the standard process. Your REC must confirm the appropriate connection route. ESB Networks connection guidance →

Your questions, answered

Can I use this without solar panels?

Yes. It is an hybrid battery system that charges from the grid. No solar panels or PV installation are required for the night-rate use described here.

Will it cover all my daytime electricity?

It depends on your usage. A new battery has 15.27kWh usable battery energy before conversion losses. The inverter supplies up to 5kW rated output; the grid supplies demand above that limit or when stored energy is exhausted.

Are the example savings guaranteed?

No. The example assumes a full useful cycle every day at 8.5c/kWh night and 35c/kWh day, with conversion losses and modelled degradation. Lower utilisation, different rates or additional costs will change the result.

Does the price include installation?

No. €3,047.97 + VAT (€3,749 incl. VAT) covers the two listed products and standard SolarBoss NC6 paperwork/admin. Electrical installation and site-specific work cost extra. Ireland delivery is €80 + VAT (€98.40 incl. VAT).

What happens during a power cut?

The hybrid inverter has a backup output, but backup circuits require separate REC design, wiring and commissioning. Whole-home backup installation is not included in this equipment package.

Do I need a particular electricity tariff?

You need a tariff with a sufficiently low charging rate compared with the daytime electricity you avoid, after allowing for conversion losses. Check your provider's rates, cheap-rate times and any tariff conditions.
