Description
The Hyundai DHY8000SELR is a long-run diesel standby generator for temporary power where the mains supply is unavailable. Its figures distinguish 5.5kW rated output from a higher 6kW maximum, making it important to plan normal loads around the rated value.
A 452cc air-cooled diesel engine, electric key start and AVR alternator form the core of the machine. The 30-litre fuel tank is stated to support up to 30 hours under favourable load conditions. A sound-reducing enclosure helps manage noise, with 70dB(A) quoted at 7m.
The generator supports a separately specified automatic transfer switch (ATS), but no ATS is included as part of the documented configuration. Suitable electrical design is essential for standby connection. Operate outdoors away from doors, windows and ventilation openings. Never backfeed a building; connection to premises needs a qualified electrician and suitable changeover equipment.
Suggested generator accessory

Optional Automatic Transfer Switch: For compatible single-phase standby installations, the 100A Compact Automatic Transfer Switch Kit is available as a separately sold accessory. It enables automatic mains/generator changeover when correctly integrated with supported generator controls. A qualified electrician must confirm compatibility and carry out the installation.
The DHY8000SELR can form part of a battery-triggered generator setup when its ATS standard module is fitted internally and a suitable external controller and cable are connected through the ATS interface. A compatible Solis hybrid model with generator-control support may request a start at low battery state of charge (SOC) and a stop at the configured recovery threshold, subject to operating mode and generator readiness. Start/stop control does not transfer the house supply. A qualified electrician must verify phase, voltage, frequency and inverter input limits, design AC transfer/isolation and commission the system.
