Fothermo 300L Photovoltaic Solar Water Heater – High Capacity Direct PV Cylinder

The Fothermo 300L photovoltaic water heater is a floor-standing, high-capacity solar hot water solution designed for family homes. It connects directly to solar panels without the need for an inverter and supports up to 6kW of photovoltaic input, typically allowing connection of up to 12–15 standard 400–450W panels.

With 1,650W photovoltaic heating power and three integrated MPP trackers, the system optimises performance across multiple panel strings for maximum solar yield throughout the day. Each MPP tracker is designed to handle up to four panels wired in parallel, ensuring efficient distribution of input and consistent performance even under varying sunlight conditions.

The 300L cylinder heats water up to 65°C using solar power and can raise a full tank from 10°C to 65°C in approximately 9.5 hours on a strong sunny day. An integrated heat exchanger allows connection to an existing gas, oil or pellet heating system for auxiliary heating when required, providing flexibility without feeding electricity back to the grid. Built with a durable insulated steel tank and designed for low operating costs, it offers a powerful and cost-effective way to supply large volumes of solar hot water while reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
